Lucia - Master Stylist/Owner

As a young girl, I always knew what I wanted to be "when I grew up." Hair had always been my passion.

I graduated from Blaine Hair and Beauty School in May 1990, and began my career as a stylist at The Salon A Cut Above. Little did I know at that time, that 4 years later, that same salon would belong to my husband and myself.
I enjoyed being in a field where I could make people look and feel better about themselves. I can truly say that, " I love what I do."

Always striving to better myself and perfect my skills, ongoing education was key. I've trained extensively with Goldwell Haircolor, and also attended classes in hair-cutting, Paul Mitchell hair sculpting and styling, perming, skincare and make-up...And the Beauty Expo's are always a fun place to "be inspired" in. You could say that I'm knowledgeable in all aspects of the beauty industry, with my specialty being "hair."

After 30 years experience as a licensed cosmetologist, I feel grateful to have had the opportunity to make a difference in our community. We have wonderful staff, and are especially thankful for the long-term friendships that we've formed, with them, and with our clients, over the years.

Paul - Master Stylist/Colorist/Owner

Coming from generations of hairstylists. I can basically say that I grew up in the hair industry. My memories date far back, as a young child, apprenticing in my father's barber shop in Italy.

I moved to America when I was 8 years old. I graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy in 1990, and my wife and I took over The Salon A Cut Above in 1994. I continued my education with Framesi and Goldwell Haircolor. My expertise is in designer cuts and styles for men and women, and formulating color shades to compliment your features and your lifestyle. So, whether you are looking to make your own personal expression, or simply looking to cover grey, I can achieve whatever effect you are looking for with multi-dimentional foil techniques, one process color, or semi-permanent Colorance. And if you have had a "bad color experience", that's in need of repair, corrective color is my specialty.

We invite you to join us, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, and meet a group of very creative and unique Hairstylists.

Meet The Staff

Gerlinde - Master Stylist

Gerlinde, the previous owner of Village Stylist (of 37 years) joined the A Cut Above team in 2009. She specializes in the "lost art" of setting hair (including pincurls & roller setting), color, perms, hair cutting and styling. She has trained extensively with "Sexy Hair" and continues to attend their classes every Spring & Fall!
*Gerlinde is fluent in German

Patricia - Master Stylist

A graduate of Robin and Richard Academy, with over 30 years of experience. Patricia has had advanced training courses in Paris, and Pyrametrics hair cutting techniques, and has performed platform work for Sebastian International & Diego. Patricia specializes in the art of cutting & coloring hair. In-depth consultations and the highest level of customer service and expertise ensure excellence to all of her customers.

Jessica - Master Stylist

A graduate of Minuteman Cosmetology, with over 20 years experience. "Jess" furthered her training, learning Pyrametric techniques in haircutting, and "updo" styling with Paul Mitchell. She is an expert with any Bridal/Special Occasion hair, and specializes in the art of hair color, foil highlighting, and haircutting.

Ricky- Master Design Stylist

A graduate of Bo-Jacks with over 30 years experience in the beauty industry. Ricky began his hair styling journey on Newbury Street, before moving to New York City in 1991 where he mastered his trade in NYC high-end salons. His background along with his passion for learning and perfecting his craft helped him exceed his client’s expectations and stay at the peak of his game.

Ricky returned to West Acton in 2017 and now brings his creativity and talents to our salon. He is a client-focused stylist with a wealth of knowledge in hair color, haircutting, and formal styling (wedding, special events, photo shoots). Having any hair struggles? Ricky has great expertise in finding solutions to address your concerns, transforming “difficult” hair into hair that you can truly embrace.

Moira - Master Stylist

A graduate of Lowell Academy with over 25 years of knowledge and expertise behind the chair. Moira has a passion for learning new techniques and trends, fine-tuning her precise skills to become the Master stylist she is today. Her goal is to build relationships with her guests to ensure they are fully educated, translating hair into a language they can understand. She strives to use her creative eye to achieve hairstyles that have the dimension, movement, and texture to fit the wants and needs of each individual.

“It is my intention to make every guest look and feel beautiful, whether it be from an amazing haircut to switching up their style with color. It is also important that each guest is educated on correct products and proper techniques to help maintain a healthy polished look at home.”

*Moira is offering private appointments on Mondays (9:00-4:00) for those who prefer to come in (one on one) for their hair services amidst the pandemic*

Kaye - Master Stylist

A graduate of Empire Beauty School, with over 30 years experience in the industry. She originally established her career as a master stylist and manager of Margo’s (of 20 years), where she also became certified through Coastline Education Master Color classes. 



We are excited to have her join our team and we welcome her loyal following to our salon. She is happy to accommodate “the old & the new” with additional salon hours.

 

Kaye specializes in color, and continues to further her education through advanced Goldwell Color training. She is also skilled with womens & mens cuts, foil highlighting, blowouts, and facial waxing.

 

What truly makes Kaye special is being able to listen to, connect with, and respect each and every client. These extra steps allow her to identify her clients needs and reach their desired end results each and every time.

Catherine- Stylist/Make-up Artist

A graduate of Minuteman in 2018, with a degree in cosmetology. Catherine also became certified in extensions ( tape-in, beaded weft, micro-bead, and keratin fusion hair techniques). With a passion for “make-up” and desire to have more in depth and extensive education in make-up artistry, Catherine furthered her degree and completed a 900 hour esthetician program at Catherine Hinds while working at the salon.

 

Catherine is well-rounded in all aspects of our salon, as you may remember her welcoming smile (since 2017) while she worked the front desk and helped maintain the smooth flow of our salon before earning her cosmetology license. She is a multi-tasker and a force at our salon! She still keeps our desk running efficiently while bringing her talents to the floor. She is skilled in women, men, and children’s haircuts, blowouts, fashion hair coloring, make-up artistry and waxing.

Beth - Master Stylist

A graduate of Rob Roy Beauty Science Academy with 40+ years of experience. Beth was formerly of Margo’s (of 38 years) and we are thrilled to have her join our team.


Beth has honed her craft by attending numerous continuing-ed classes including an intensive color/cutting program with Scruples in Minnesota, multiple New York hair shows, and has received master color certification through Coastline.


Beth has experience in all aspects of the industry, including women’s and men’s haircuts, color, foiling, perms, blowouts, and facial waxing. She specializes in thin hair, and the cutting, styling and care of wigs. Every one of her clients will walk away feeling confident and beautiful!


Beth’s dedication to her craft and warm demeanor has earned her a loyal clientele, and we welcome them to A Cut Above!

Darlene - Desk Manager/Receptionist

Since 2000, Darlene has been there to greet you each morning. You will feel the atmosphere from the moment you walk in, with her warm smile and friendly customer service. We are so thankful for all her hard work and dedication over the years.
